With Posh almost resigned to losing their two biggest assets they now search for replacements. High on the list is Bradford City front man Charlie Wyke. There has been much speculation already regarding Wyke with Bolton, Wigan and Preston reported to be in the hunt.
A bid of £500,000 has been tabled from League One rivals Peterborough United. Bradford’s top scorer last term, is into the final year of his contract with the West Yorkshire club. We believe talks have taken place over a new deal, but City are aware of Wyke’s decreasing value going forward. Wyke would be free to leave on a free transfer next summer.
Peterborough look set to sell £6m-rated top scorer Jack Marriott this summer, are in the market for a striker. Bradford paid £250,000 to Carlisle United for Wyke in January last year and he has since netted 23 goals in 60 starts. Bolton Wanderers have also been tracking the striker, but Peterborough are the first to test Bradford’s resolve with a firm bid.
